Wilderness Programs
Wilderness Programs are often the initial intervention in a plan to assist a family with an adolescent or young adult involved in negative and self defeating behaviors. They generally run about eight to twelve weeks long and begin the process for the student in gaining insight into their behavioral patterns.
There are many different programs available, and they can vary widely in their approach, operating philosophies, activities, environments, and cultures, specialties and expertise. Outdoor programs can give your child the opportunity to develop resiliency and perspective that we don’t find in any other type of therapeutic environment. In addition, within an individual program there are often several groups and therapists to choose from. Matching your child to a particular therapist within a specific program can have a significant impact on their experience and ultimate success.
